MedInfo - August 2025
The International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and one of its Member Societies host the internationally acclaimed Medical and Health Informatics congress, known as MedInfo. This event is taking place from 9 – 13 August in Taipei, Taiwan.

Health Information Exchange (HIE) Maturity Assessment Program - June 2025
HELINA in collaboration with Africa CDC, hosted the Health Information Exchange (HIE) Maturity Assessment Program, a strategic initiative to advance digital health leadership and strengthen scalable health informatics solutions across Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – June 2025. SAHIA represented by Dr Rajeev Rao Eashwari, President of SAHIA.
FHIR training - June 2025
HELINA, in partnership with KeHIA, HL7 International, Google Open Health Stack, and the World Health Organization, is hosting an exclusive hands-on FHIR training in Nairobi, Kenya – June 2025. SAHIA represented by Ms Marieta Liebenberg, SAHIA Council member.
Africa CDC training Program - June 2025
SAHIA President, Dr Rajeev Rao Eashwari recently attended a training Program Hosted at Africa CDC Headquarters, Addis Ababa in June 2025. During July Digital Health Africa, a virtual event took place with the theme “Expanding the scope of health care services with effective digital health technologies.”
SAHIA was a supporting association and represented by speakers Dr Rajeev Rao Eashwari and Mr Clive Daniell.
SAHIA proudly supported GNUHealth with their webinar series on open-source software applications for Africa and a keynote webinar titled “Making Machine Learning Actionable in Healthcare”, hosted by Prof Graham Wright and presented by Alex Macleod.

Past President Clive Daniell from the In2pacs Academy ran a series of HL7 FHIR training courses.
2018
Clive Daniell represented SAHIA at Africa Health where he presented on the Digital Health Revolution.
The first HL7 FHIR Training in South Africa took place in April 2018, organised by the In2pacs Academy in association with SAHIA and presented by Herman Oosterwijk.
